AP-8414 Vinyl Wash Primer  AP-8414 Chromate Free Self Etching Wash Primer is a two part primer that chemically protects against the corrosion process.  It is recommended for protecting bare metal, galvanized steel and aluminum.  AP-8414 provides minimal film build for maximum protection.
Recommended Substrates  Aluminum Galvanized Steel Stainless Steel Bare Metal   Products     AP-8414     Self Etching Wash Primer    AP-8415     Self Etching Wash Primer Catalyst  Application  Surface Preparation Wash the area thoroughly with soap and water to remove contaminants that solvent based cleaners cannot remove effectively.  Clean repaired area with a good grade wax and grease remover such as AS-2900 and wipe dry with a clean cloth.  Completely sand surface with 180–220 grit sandpaper or equivalent and re-clean with wax and grease remover.  If metal surface is badly pitted or rusted, remove rust and treat with a quality metal cleaner or conditioner.  Apply AP-8414 immediately after cleaning.  Mixing Directions    1 Part AP-8414     Self Etching Wash Primer    1 Part AP-8415     Self Etching Wash Primer Catalyst    10% 893 (Optional)    Lacquer Thinner   Application Apply 1 medium wet coat only.  Use 35–45 psi at the gun or 5 to 9 psi at the cap when using an HVLP gun.  The surface should have a smooth and uniform semi-transparent finish.  Allow AP-8414 to dry 30 minutes before recoating with additional primers.  Do not apply more that one coat of AP-8414.  Do not apply over body filler or lacquer based products.  Do not directly topcoat with basecoat or single stage systems.  Always apply a primer coat before top coating.  Drying Schedule Dry times are based on recommended film thickness and are dependent on ambient temperature.      Air Dry @ 77ºF        Flash Time   2 - 3  min      To Topcoat   30 min – 45 min
